Famed Artist Peter Max To Donate Artwork To The Wild For Life Foundation Charity, to benefit Equine Sanctuary - Uniting People and Horses as Partners in Healing
March 18, 2014, San Diego, CA -- The Wild for Life Foundation, a charitable foundation that has been at
the forefront of efforts to rescue and provide safe harbor for at risk wild and domestic equines, and strives to provide equine assisted learning activities along with equine wellness and therapy programs to aid youth, active duty military and veterans, and others in need, today announced that famed artist and pop culture icon, Peter Max, will donate art work to be auctioned off in a live auction at the Foundation’s Spring Benefit Reception on Saturday, March 29, 2014 in Rancho Santa Fe, CA.
Mr. Max’s history with the Wild For Life Foundation (WFLF) dates back to 2011, during the production of the acclaimed documentary film, SAVING AMERICA’S
HORSES: A NATION BETRAYED, when Max first donated the image of BOBBY 11 FREEDOM, a rescued New York Carriage Horse that was days from slaughter. The image of the portrait was forever immortalized through WFLF’s international award winning film, “Saving America’s Horses: A National Betrayed.
“I am so thankful that my art could be used in saving even one horse from any kind of cruelty. I am sincerely proud to have been a part of this great movie,” Mr. Max said. “When the powerful and brilliant exposé, SAVING AMERICA’S HORSES, came to NYC, I learned that thousands of healthy vibrant horses are disappearing and suffering from criminal animal cruelty. This exposé has everything it takes to educate, engage and empower the public to effect social change but distribution is extremely expensive, resources are few, and there is limited funding,” says Max. “WFLF rescue workers are working around the clock to break the cycle of animal cruelty for America’s horses and
they need our help.”
One of the nation’s most famous living artists, Peter Max is also a pop culture icon. His bold colors, uplifting images and uncommon artistic diversity have touched almost every phase of American culture and inspired many generations. He has painted for six U.S. Presidents, and his art is on display in Presidential Libraries and U.S. Embassies. From art that appeared on the first U.S. 10-cent stamp bearing the title “Preserve the Environment,” to 235 U.S. Border murals greeting millions of people entering America each year, Mr. Max seeks to capture themes of America at its finest in his art.
“We are truly grateful for Peter Max’s support of the Foundation,” said Katia Louise, president and founder. “Peter is truly one of the world’s most talented artists whose philanthropic generosity has helped so many important causes. We are thrilled to offer this special opportunity for others who will be able to own a signature painting by PETER MAX of themselves or their horse or even of their family and their horse together! It is wonderful to reconnect with Peter in a way that will help more lives to be saved.”
The Wild for Life Foundation (WFLF) is a 501 (c)(3) U.S. registered tax exempt nonprofit charity that has been at the forefront of efforts to rescue and provide safe harbor for at risk animals, providing the space, natural habitat and quality of care which they deserve. The WFLF’ aim is to provide charitable equine assisted learning activities together with equine-therapy programs to aid youth and adults in building positive life skills. The WFLF is internationally recognized as a leader in animal welfare -- among our greatest concerns are imperiled wild horses and burros, abused, neglected and slaughter bound wild and domestic equines, and inadequate standards of protection for America’s equine population as a whole. The WFLF promotes the preservation of natural ecosystems, wildlife and the prevention of cruelty to animals. We strive to preserve and celebrate Native heritage and cultures through embracing harmonious relationships among people, animals and nature. The WFLF is achieving these goals through operating equine rescue, sanctuary, education and wellness programs which provide community enrichment through fostering symbiotic environmental stewardship and a healing partnership with horses.
