The International Wildlife Film Festival (IWFF) is presenting Katia Louise of Humanion Films four awards for her latest film Saving America’s Horses A Nation Betrayed.

Saving America’s Horses A Nation Betrayed is a featured selection of the 2011 Festival and has been awarded as a Winner, with Honorable Mentions recognizing this film for its excellence in Cinematography, Editing, Conservation Message & Advocacy. “Saving America’s Horses A Nation Betrayed is a must-see film for anyone who treasures the beauty and significance of the horse, a living symbol of the American west,” said Janet Rose, Executive Director of IWFF.

The International Wildlife Film Festival held May 7-14 in Missoula, Montana, is the premier venue for wildlife filmmaking and filmmakers. Often called the Sundance of the Wildlife Film genre, IWFF is an annual gathering where film, television, new media, science and conservation converge.

Saving America’s Horses, A Nation Betrayed, is a hard hitting, well done documentary with a focus on both domesticated horses and wild horses that explores the gritty truth behind one of the most controversial and least understood issues – horse slaughter. This film exposes a reality about one of the most majestic animals on earth, a reality that audiences may be shocked to learn but one which tells us about who we are as a people and as a society, in a whole new way.” – Janet Rose, Executive Director of IWFF

Saving America’s Horses A Nation Betrayed screens at the International Wildlife Film Festival in Montana on May 7th and 10th, 2011.

“We’re truly honored to be recognized by such a prestigious festival,” said filmmaker Katia Louise, who along with Cast & Board Members Michael Blake and Craig Downer will be attending and speaking at the event. “We are big fans of the festival and are very proud to be amongst the internationally respected artists who are recognized.”

“Saving America’s Horses A Nation Betrayed” is a compelling compilation of expert testimony, undercover footage and true life stories shot against the dramatic backdrops of the American countryside. The 93-minute documentary film features Paul Sorvino, Michael Blake, Willie Nelson, Tippi Hedren, Linda Gray, Peter Max, Ken Wahl, Amy & Raelyn Nelson, The Barbi Twins & many more. It’s about a journey of courage, honor and betrayal in a country divided; inspiring great hope for compassion and protection of all horses and burros.

In addition to these new honors, Saving America’s Horses A Nation Betrayed recently won the prestigious Best of Fest Award in the feature documentary film category from the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival and the much celebrated Award of Merit in the Accolade Competition.
